Rapallo is found in the western part of the Gulf of Tigullio, integrate in a creek where architecture and history join to the suggestion of the landscape.
It offers to its visitors charming views and pure nature, but Rapallo is also a city full of monuments: the symbol of the city is the old castle on the sea, constructed in 1551 in order to defend the city from the pirates, today it is reflected in limpid waters of the gulf and dominates the beach of the fishermen.
In the city there are many churches, historical towers, villas, museums and palaces, as the Municipal Palace, constructed in medieval age at first as a shelter for pilgrims and subsequently converted into town hall. Not to lose is the cableway that from Rapallo goes up to the Sanctuary of Nostra Signora di Montallegro: the ascent allows to admire the wonderful with its natural beauties and the blue of the Tigullio Gulf, and to reach the sanctuary, an evocative place, constructed in 1558 after the apparition of the Virgin to a peasant. .
Rapallo is therefore a pleasant city, where the monuments are not only in the beautiful historical center, and are melted with the natural beauties in order to create an only scenery.
